Latest Update (September 2026): The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has officially released the detailed notification for the Combined Higher Secondary (10+2) Level Examination, 2026 (SSC CHSL 2026) under Notice No. HQ-C1102/5/2026-C-1.This recruitment drive aims to fill approximately 2536 tentative Group-C vacancies for Lower Division Clerk (LDC), Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA), and Data Entry Operator (DEO / DEO Grade 'A') across various Ministries, Departments, and Constitutional Bodies of the Government of India. The online application portal on the new SSC portal (ssc.gov.in) is active from 07 September 2026 to 07 October 2026 (23:00 Hours).

The age limit is 18 to 27 years as on 01.08.2026. Candidates born not earlier than 02-08-1999 and not later than 01-08-2008 are eligible to apply.

SSC CHSL Scheme of Examination: Tier-I (CBE)
Tier-I consists of 100 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) for 200 marks. The total time duration is 60 Minutes (80 Minutes for scribe-eligible candidates) with a sectional timer of 15 minutes for each subject. There is a negative marking of 0.50 marks for every incorrect answer.

Negative Marking in Tier-II: There is a deduction of 1 mark for each incorrect answer in Section-I, Section-II, and Section-III. Merit list is prepared strictly based on the aggregate marks scored in Section-I & Section-II of Tier-II examination.
Step-by-Step Online Application Process on ssc.gov.in
Visit ssc.gov.in and click "Login or Register". Complete your OTR profile with your active mobile number, email, and identity credentials. Old registrations from ssc.nic.in are not valid on the new system.
• Live Webcam Photo: No pre-existing photo upload is permitted. Sit/stand straight against a plain background with ample lighting without wearing a cap, mask, or spectacles.
• Signature Upload: Upload scanned signature in JPEG/JPG format (10 KB to 20 KB, dimensions 4.0 cm x 2.0 cm). Signatures in capital letters will be rejected.
Select 3 examination centers in order of priority within the same administrative SSC region. Indicate your highest and qualifying educational details and your typing test language preference (English or Hindi).
Review your filled application using the Preview tab. Remit ₹100 online fee (if applicable) and download the system-generated application confirmation page for future reference.

SSC CHSL 2026 – Critical Candidate Instructions (Avoid Form Rejection!)
Candidates must strictly adhere to the following operational instructions:
- Live Photo Capture Protocol: Do not attempt to photograph a pre-printed photograph. The application module captures a live photo via webcam/mobile app. Face front with eyes open, no spectacles, no caps, and plain background.
- Single Application Rule: Submit only one application. If multiple submissions with different registration numbers are detected, all applications will be rejected.
- Signature Specs: Scanned signature must be 10 KB to 20 KB in JPEG/JPG format. Signatures written in capital letters or blurred files will lead to immediate cancellation.
- Valid Certificate Formats: OBC candidates must ensure their certificate is valid and they do not belong to Creamy Layer. EWS candidates must hold an Income & Asset Certificate valid for FY 2026-2027 based on FY 2025-2026 income.
- Border Roads Organisation (BRO) Notice: Only male candidates are eligible for vacancies reported under Border Roads Organisation (BRO), subject to passing physical efficiency and medical standards.
