Use this free calculator to find your exact age on any government exam’s cut-off date and to check whether you are within the age limit after category relaxation. Pick an exam, or enter the cut-off date and age limit from your notification yourself.

Relaxations shown are the common central government ones (for example SSC CGL/CHSL 2026: OBC 3, SC/ST 5, PwBD 10/13/15 years, Ex-Servicemen 3 years after deducting military service). EWS gets no age relaxation in central jobs. State and PSU exams often use different rules, so always check the age section of the official notification.

How to use

  1. Enter your date of birth as given in your 10th certificate.
  2. Tap an exam button, or enter the “age as on” date and the age limit from your notification.

Frequently asked questions

How is age calculated for government jobs?

Age is counted on the cut-off date (“age as on”) given in the notification, using the date of birth in your 10th certificate. The calculator shows completed years, months and days on that date.

What does 18–27 years mean in an SSC notice?

You must have reached 18 years and must not have reached 27 years on the cut-off date. For SSC CHSL 2026, that means you were born between 02-08-1999 and 01-08-2008.

How much age relaxation do OBC, SC and ST candidates get?

In central government exams such as SSC, OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates get 3 years, SC/ST 5 years, and PwBD 10 years (13 for OBC, 15 for SC/ST) on top of the upper age limit.

Do EWS candidates get age relaxation?

No. In central government recruitment, EWS candidates do not get any age relaxation. Some states have different rules, so check your notification.

How is Ex-Servicemen age relaxation calculated?

Subtract your military service from your actual age on the cut-off date, then allow 3 extra years over the upper age limit. Enter your years of service in the calculator to apply this.

Is the result final for my application?

No. It is a quick check. The notification of your exam is final, because cut-off dates and relaxations vary from exam to exam.

Verify in the official notification: age limits, cut-off dates and relaxations differ by exam and post. Always confirm them in the age limit section of the official notification. SarkariJobSelection is not linked to any recruitment board.
