Eligibility

• Education: a bachelor's degree from a university established by Central or State law, a deemed university under Section 3 of the UGC Act, or an equivalent qualification recognised by the Government.
• Computer: basic knowledge of computer applications as prescribed under the Gujarat Civil Services Classification and Recruitment (General) Rules, 1967.
• Language: adequate knowledge of Gujarati or Hindi or both.
• Qualification and age are checked as on the last date, 30/11/2026.

Salary

• Fixed pay for the first five years: ₹49,600 a month – Sub Registrar Grade-1, Office Superintendent, Assistant Tribal Development Officer; ₹40,800 – Sub Registrar Grade-2, Social Welfare Inspector, Head Clerk; ₹26,000 – Senior Clerk, Office Assistant, Junior Clerk.
• After five years of satisfactory service the employee is appointed in the regular pay scale, as per Finance Department resolutions (subject to the Supreme Court's final order in SLP 14124/2012 and 14125/2012).

Exam Pattern

• Stage 1 – Preliminary (common for Group-A and Group-B): 150 MCQs, 150 marks, 120 minutes – English 15, Gujarati 15, General Awareness & Current Affairs 30, Quantitative Aptitude 30, Reasoning 60. Negative marking 0.25 per wrong answer. Screening only; prelim marks do not count in the final merit.
• Seven times the category-wise posts are called for the main exam, separately for Group-A and Group-B.
• Stage 2 – Main, Group-A (descriptive, 350 marks): Gujarati Language Skill 100, English Language Skill 100, General Studies 150 (3 hours each).
• Stage 2 – Main, Group-B (MCQ, 200 marks, 120 minutes): Indian polity & Constitution, economy, public administration, ethics, government schemes, current affairs, Gujarat history, geography and culture, Gujarati and English, science and IT.
• Minimum qualifying standard: 40% in each stage and each paper.
