The Uttarakhand Subordinate Service Selection Commission (UKSSSC) has released Advertisement No. 81/UKSSSC/2026 (dated 08/09/2026) for direct recruitment to 101 Group 'C' posts of Personal Assistant, Stenographer, Stenographer Grade-III and Stenographer Grade-II/Stenographer Grade-2 in various Uttarakhand departments. These are regular direct-recruitment, non-gazetted posts. The category-wise and horizontal reservation split for each post (Uttarakhand women, ex-servicemen, Divyang, agitationists, etc.) is given in the official PDF. Reservation applies only to Uttarakhand domicile candidates.
Nature of post: posts 1, 2 and 5–19 are non-gazetted permanent. Post 3 (Van Vikas Nigam) and post 4 (Judicial & Legal Academy, contributory pension) are non-gazetted temporary posts as stated in the advertisement.
Educational Qualification
- PA posts 1–3 and 8–19: Intermediate from UP/Uttarakhand Board or equivalent, plus Hindi shorthand at 80 wpm and Hindi computer typing at 4000 key depressions per hour.
- PA, Judicial & Legal Academy (post 4): Intermediate, a shorthand & typing certificate/diploma, computer typing at 4000 KDPH, and shorthand speed of 80 wpm in Hindi and 100 wpm in English.
- Stenographer, Public Service Tribunal (post 5): Intermediate, plus English and Hindi shorthand at 80 wpm and English and Hindi typing at 40 wpm.
- Steno Grade-III, PTCUL (post 6): Graduate with knowledge of Devanagari; English shorthand 80 wpm and Hindi 60 wpm; computer typing 6000 KDPH in Hindi and 7000 KDPH in English; plus a 3-month MS Office certificate.
- Steno Grade-II, Bridge Corps (post 7): Intermediate, plus Hindi shorthand/typing at 80/25 wpm and English at 80/30 wpm, MS Office skills and 3 years' relevant experience.
- Must be registered at an employment office in Uttarakhand and hold Uttarakhand domicile, or have passed high school/intermediate from an institution in Uttarakhand (see Para 9 of the advertisement).
- Preference: 2 years in the Territorial Army, or an NCC 'B'/'C' certificate (and a graduate/postgraduate degree for some posts).
Age Limit (as on 01 July 2026)
18–42 years (born between 02/07/1984 and 01/07/2008). For the PA post at the Judicial & Legal Academy and PTCUL Steno Grade-III the range is 21–42 years (born between 02/07/1984 and 01/07/2005). Uttarakhand SC/ST/OBC +5 years; Uttarakhand Divyang +10 years; dependants of freedom fighters +5 years; ex-servicemen as per rules.
Salary
Pay Level-4 to Level-7 depending on the post (see table): Level-5 ₹29,200–92,300 for most PA posts. Most posts carry contributory pension (NPS/UPS); PTCUL Steno Grade-III is covered by the Employees' Provident Fund.

Selection Process
- Stage 1: Offline written exam of 100 objective (MCQ) questions, 100 marks, 2 hours. The syllabus is Appendix-1 of the advertisement on sssc.uk.gov.in.
- Negative marking of 1/4 mark per wrong answer. Minimum marks: 45% for UR/EWS/OBC and 35% for SC/ST.
- Stage 2: Qualifying typing and shorthand tests for candidates shortlisted at 4 times the vacancies, in order of written-exam merit.
- The final merit list is based on written-exam marks. Admit cards are issued online only.

- Register using your Aadhaar number, mobile and e-mail, then fill in your educational details.
- Upload your photo (150×200 px), signature and thumb impression (150×100 px each) and the required certificates.
