Eligibility (as on 1 September 2026)
- Indian citizen.
- Bachelor’s degree of a recognised university in India.
- Knowledge of computer operation and typing speed of 35 w.p.m. on computer.
- Candidates in Central or State Government, nationalised banks or PSUs must produce an NOC at document verification.
- If you take up a job after applying, inform the Branch Officer, Recruitment Cell, immediately.
Age Limit (as on 1 September 2026)
18 to 30 years. Usual relaxation for SC, ST, OBC (non-creamy layer), physically challenged candidates and ex-servicemen under Government of India rules. Dependents of freedom fighters: up to 5 years over 30. No upper age limit for departmental candidates of the Supreme Court Registry. Staff of other departments, PSUs or nationalised banks do not get age relaxation.
Pay
Level 6 of the Pay Matrix, initial basic pay ₹35,400 plus allowances. The table uses DA at 55% for illustration (official DA orders prevail).

Objective split: English 20, Aptitude 15, GK 15, judiciary provisions in the Constitution 15, Supreme Court Rules 2013 (10), Supreme Court Officers and Servants Rules 1961 (10), Computer 15. Typing allows 3% mistakes; a wrong word is a full mistake and a wrong case or punctuation is a half mistake. Descriptive scripts are evaluated only if typing is qualified.
Syllabus
Prepare General English, aptitude, general knowledge, constitutional provisions on the judiciary, Supreme Court Rules, 2013, the 1961 service rules, and computer knowledge for the objective paper. Descriptive English is comprehension, precis and essay. Read the official PDF before the 20 November 2026 test.
Selection Method
All four stages are mandatory. If many candidates score 50 or more in the objective test, typing and descriptive are limited to about 1:10 of tentative vacancies. Interview is about 1:3 among those who qualify the three tests. No TA/DA. If more than one form is submitted, only the latest application number is considered.
Exam Centres
The objective test is held in the cities in Annexure-A (about 131 centres, including Delhi/NCR). Choose cities in preference order; the Registry may shift you. Typing and the descriptive test are in Delhi/NCR. Interview is online or in Delhi. No request to change city or date is entertained.

- From 7 October 2026, open the Junior Court Assistant link on https://www.sci.gov.in/.
- Enter name and date of birth exactly as on the Class 10 certificate.
- Upload photo, signature, Class 10, Class 12, graduation and category or disability certificates.
- Pay online and submit by 28 October 2026, 11:55 PM. Keep the application number. Do not post the printout.
