SBI PO 2026 – Critical Instructions Every Applicant Must Read
  • CIBIL Score Mandatory Check Before Applying: SBI explicitly requires that candidates who have defaulted on any loan, credit card dues, or any other lending arrangement with Banks/NBFCs/Financial Institutions must regularize and repay all outstanding dues before the date of joining. Adverse CIBIL history is checked at the time of joining — if not cleared, the offer of appointment will be withdrawn/cancelled. Check your CIBIL score right now before applying.
  • ₹2 Lakh Service Bond on Joining: All selected candidates must execute a Service Bond of ₹2,00,000 (Two Lakh Rupees) at the time of joining, committing to serve SBI for a minimum period of 3 years. If you resign before completing 3 years of service, the full bond amount will be recovered from you. Ensure you are committed before accepting the offer.
  • Photo ID Mandatory at Each Exam Centre: You must carry a valid government-issued photo identity proof (Passport, Aadhaar, PAN Card, Driving Licence, Voter ID, or Bank Passbook with attested photograph) in original along with a self-attested photocopy at every stage of the examination. Candidates without original photo ID will NOT be permitted to appear in the exam under any circumstances.
  • Live Photograph Capture During Registration: In addition to uploading a scanned photograph, you must also capture and upload a live photograph via webcam or mobile phone during the online registration process itself. This is a new mandatory step — do not apply on a device without a functioning camera.
  • Preliminary Exam Call Letter Must Be Retained: Unlike many other exams, SBI does NOT collect the Preliminary Exam Call Letter at the examination venue. However, it is authenticated and stamped by exam centre staff. Candidates shortlisted for Mains will be required to bring their duly authenticated Original Preliminary Exam Call Letter (with authenticated copy of ID proof) along with the Main Exam Call Letter at the Mains venue. Losing your Prelims call letter means you cannot appear for Mains.
  • Posting Anywhere in India – No Preference Entertained: Selected Probationary Officers will be allotted to any SBI Circle, office, subsidiary, or associate anywhere in India at the Bank's discretion. Posting requests for a specific location or city will not be entertained. Additionally, SBI reserves the right to depute POs to international branches as well. Be prepared for a full nationwide transfer.
  • NOC Required for Govt./PSU Employees at Interview Stage: Candidates currently serving in any Government department, Quasi-Government office, PSU or Nationalized Bank must submit a valid No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their employer at the time of interview. Failure to produce the NOC means the candidate will not be permitted to attend the interview and will not be considered for appointment.
  • OBC Certificate Validity – Issued on or After 01.04.2026: OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates must hold a valid OBC-NCL certificate in the Central Government prescribed format. The certificate must be issued on or after 01 April 2026 and must be in the candidate's possession on or before the date of interview. Certificates older than this date will not be accepted.
  • Aadhaar Mandatory for Biometric Verification: SBI will conduct Online Aadhaar verification at different stages of the selection process. Candidates are advised to ensure they possess a valid Aadhaar card well before applying. Additionally, biometric (thumb impression and IRIS scan) data may be captured at examination centres — do not apply any external matter like Mehendi, ink, or chemicals on your hands before exam day.
  • Category Cannot Be Changed After Submission: Once an online application is submitted, no change of category (including sub-category of PwBD) will be permitted under any circumstances. OBC creamy layer candidates who apply under OBC will have their candidature rejected. Double-check your category code before clicking final submit.
