Eligibility (as on 20/10/2026)
- Bachelor of Library and Information Science (or equivalent) from a recognised university. A law degree is preferred.
- Certificate of basic computer knowledge as prescribed by the Gujarat Government.
- Sufficient knowledge of English, Gujarati and Hindi.
- 2 years' experience in a well-organised library after the degree.
Age Limit (as on 20 October 2026)
21 to 37 years. Relaxation: women 5 years, PwBD 10 years, ex-servicemen service + 3 years, Gujarat Government employees up to 5 years. The upper limit cannot exceed 45 years with relaxations.

Selection Process
- Main written exam: 100 MCQs, 100 marks, 2 hours, negative marking 0.33. Syllabus: Library Science, English & Gujarati, General Studies/Reasoning, basic legal knowledge, computer applications.
- Qualifying marks in the written exam: 50% (PwBD 45%).
- Viva-voce: 40 marks, minimum 40% to enter the merit list.
- Select list and wait-list (up to 10% of vacancies) on aggregate marks. District Judiciary candidates give three district preferences.
