Educational Qualification
- Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate degree in Food Technology, Dairy Technology, Biotechnology, Oil Technology, Agricultural Science, Veterinary Science, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Chemistry or Medicine from a recognised university; or
- Bachelor's/Master's/Doctorate in one of these Food Technology subjects: Food Engineering; Food Engineering & Technology; Food Processing & Preservation; Food Processing & Technology; Food Technology & Management; Food Biotechnology; Food Plant Operation Management; Food Process Engineering & Management; Food Processing; Food Safety & Quality Management; Process & Food Engineering; or
- Bachelor's/Master's/Doctorate in one of these Agricultural Science subjects: Agriculture; Agricultural Engineering; Biotechnology; Dairy Technology; Fisheries; Food Technology; Food Nutrition & Dietetics; Horticulture; or
- MBBS, BDS, BHMS, BUMS, BSMS (Siddha), BAMS or Bachelor of Sowa-Rigpa Medicine & Surgery; or
- Any other course or qualification notified from time to time by FSSAI, New Delhi (with prior approval of the Central Government) for appointment as Food Safety Officer.
- All certificates (qualification, caste, NCL, EWS, domicile, PwD) must be issued on or before 24/10/2026 and uploaded in the online form.
Age Limit (as on 01 August 2026)
Minimum 21 years. Maximum: UR male 37; UR female 40; BC/EBC (male & female) 40; SC/ST (male & female) 42. PwD +10 years; regular Bihar Government employees with 3 years' continuous service +5 years; ex-servicemen get relaxation equal to their service plus 3 years, provided their age does not exceed 57. Only one of these relaxations can be claimed. Age is counted from the Matriculation certificate.

Revised pay structure Pay Level-6 (pre-revised PB-2 with Grade Pay ₹4,200), plus admissible allowances.

Selection Process
- Selection is based only on a written Computer Based Test of 100 marks.
- 100 objective questions in Hindi and English, 2 hours. Negative marking 0.25 per wrong answer. Normalisation applies across shifts.
- Minimum qualifying marks: General 40%, BC 36.5%, EBC 34%, SC/ST/women/PwD 32%. Candidates from outside Bihar need 40%.
