Indian Coast Guard Navik & Yantrik Salary: Pay Level, Yantrik Pay and In-Hand

Last updated: 27 Oct 2026 · Every figure below links to the official notification or order it comes from.

The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) recruits Navik (General Duty), Navik (Domestic Branch), Hygienist-I and Yantrik through the Coast Guard Enrolled Persons Test (CGEPT). The CGEPT 01/2027 & 02/2027 notification gives the basic pay, the extra Yantrik pay and a list of allowances, but not a monthly total. This page works out the actual monthly figure from basic pay, Yantrik pay, Dearness Allowance and HRA, minus the pension deduction, using only the allowances the notification itself lists.

Quick answer: A Yantrik starts on basic pay ₹29,200 (Level 5) + Yantrik pay ₹6,200 + DA ₹17,520 = ₹52,920 a month, about ₹48,248 in hand after the 10% NPS/UPS deduction. A Navik (GD or DB) starts on ₹21,700 (Level 3) + DA ₹13,020 = ₹34,720, about ₹31,248 in hand. These figures are for government accommodation; with HRA in an X-class city such as Mumbai or Chennai, in-hand is about ₹57,008 (Yantrik) and ₹37,758 (Navik). Income tax and the insurance contribution are not included.

What this page does not include

  • Transport Allowance and duty allowances: The notification does not list Transport Allowance, and it does not give amounts for the “other allowances based on nature of duty/place of posting” (for example, sea or hardship duty). We leave them out rather than guess, so your actual pay can be higher.
  • Income tax and NGIF contribution: Tax depends on your regime and declarations, and the notification does not print the NGIF monthly contribution, so neither is deducted.
  • Ration and clothing: These are given in kind, not as cash, so they are not added to monthly pay.
  • 8th Pay Commission: The 8th Central Pay Commission (official website) has been set up, but no new pay matrix has been notified. These figures use the 7th CPC matrix in force today.

ICG Navik & Yantrik Salary: FAQ

What is the salary of an Indian Coast Guard Yantrik?

The CGEPT 01/2027 notification gives a Yantrik a basic pay of ₹29,200 (Pay Level 5) plus Yantrik pay of ₹6,200 a month, plus Dearness Allowance and other allowances. At the central DA rate of 60% that is basic ₹29,200 + Yantrik pay ₹6,200 + DA ₹17,520 = ₹52,920 a month, or about ₹48,248 after the 10% NPS/UPS deduction, while living in government accommodation. If you get HRA instead, add ₹8,760 in an X-class city such as Mumbai or Chennai (in-hand about ₹57,008). Income tax and the NGIF insurance contribution are not included.

What is the in-hand salary of an Indian Coast Guard Navik?

Navik (General Duty) and Navik (Domestic Branch) are in Pay Level 3 with a basic pay of ₹21,700. With DA at 60% (₹13,020) the gross is ₹34,720 and the in-hand is about ₹31,248 a month after the 10% NPS/UPS deduction, in government accommodation. With HRA in an X-class city it is about ₹37,758. Hygienist-I is on the same Level 3 pay.

What is Yantrik pay in the Coast Guard?

Yantrik pay is a fixed ₹6,200 a month paid to Yantriks on top of their Level 5 basic pay, as stated in para 17.1 of the CGEPT 01/2027 notification. The notification does not say whether DA is also calculated on it, so this page adds it as a flat ₹6,200 and calculates DA on basic pay only.

What is the pay level of Navik and Yantrik?

Navik (GD), Navik (DB) and Hygienist-I: Pay Level 3, starting basic ₹21,700 (range ₹21,700–69,100). Yantrik: Pay Level 5, starting basic ₹29,200 (range ₹29,200–92,300), plus Yantrik pay ₹6,200.

Do Coast Guard Navik and Yantrik get HRA?

The notification lists 'Government accommodation/House Rent Allowance', so you get either a government house or HRA, not both. The tables show both cases. HRA is worked out on basic pay at the central rates of 30%, 20% or 10% depending on the city class.

Is Transport Allowance included?

No. The ICG notification lists pay, Yantrik pay, Dearness Allowance, government accommodation or HRA, free ration and clothing, medical care, leave with LTC, NPS/UPS and insurance. It does not list Transport Allowance, so this page does not add it. Other allowances 'based on nature of duty/place of posting' are paid as per regulations but are not quantified in the notification.

Which pension scheme applies to ICG Navik and Yantrik?

The notification says pension is under the National Pension Scheme (NPS) or Unified Pension Scheme (UPS), with gratuity on retirement. Under both, the employee contribution is 10% of basic pay plus DA, which is the deduction used on this page.

Which DA rate is used on this page?

60% of basic pay, the central rate from 1 January 2026 under the Department of Expenditure OM dated 22 April 2026. As of 27 October 2026 no order for the instalment due from 1 July 2026 has been issued; we will update the page when it is.

How much will a Navik or Yantrik get after 5 years?

With five annual increments and no promotion, a Navik's basic moves from ₹21,700 to ₹25,200 (about ₹36,288 in hand in government accommodation at 60% DA) and a Yantrik's from ₹29,200 to ₹33,900 (about ₹55,016 in hand including Yantrik pay). Promotion or a DA increase will raise these figures.
