AIIMS Gorakhpur has issued Advt. No. AIIMS/GKP/RECT/FACULTY/2026-27/239 dated 14/09/2026 for 68 Group-A faculty posts in 31 departments: 18 Professor, 8 Additional Professor, 24 Associate Professor and 18 Assistant Professor. The notice covers direct recruitment, deputation and contract. Associate and Assistant Professor posts are filled by direct recruitment only. Professor and Additional Professor posts can also be filled on deputation or, for retired faculty, on contract. Department-wise reservation (UR/OBC/SC/ST/EWS) for all 31 departments is printed on pages 1–2 of the advertisement. 7 posts are reserved for PwBD (1 Professor, 1 Additional Professor, 2 Associate Professor, 3 Assistant Professor). Unfilled Additional or Associate Professor posts may be downgraded to Assistant Professor and filled on contract until regular selection. Contract posts for retired faculty (up to 68 years): Professor (Consultant) ₹2,20,000 and Additional Professor (Consultant) ₹2,00,000 per month lump sum. Vacancies are provisional.
Eligibility
- MBBS or equivalent recognised under the IMC Act, 1956 or by the NMC.
- MD/MS in the subject of the post (DM/MCh for super-speciality departments), recognised by the NMC.
- Teaching experience after the qualifying degree: Professor 14 years, Additional Professor 10, Associate Professor 6, Assistant Professor 3. Super-speciality posts need less, as listed in the advertisement.
- Pulmonary Medicine, Transfusion Medicine and Trauma & Emergency accept the specific degrees listed in the notice.
Age Limit (as on 13 October 2026)
Professor / Additional Professor: not more than 58 years. Associate / Assistant Professor: not more than 50 years. Relaxation: SC/ST 5 years, OBC 3 years, PwBD (OPH) 5 years, Government servants / Ex-servicemen 5 years as per GoI rules. No relaxation for SC/ST/OBC candidates applying against unreserved posts.
Pay
Assistant Professor: Level-12 (₹1,01,500–1,67,400) plus allowances including NPA where applicable. Higher posts as in the vacancy table.

A Search-cum-Selection Committee may shortlist on bio-data and call candidates for interview at Gorakhpur. Originals are checked at the interview. No TA/DA. Appointment is subject to two years' probation.
