Physical & Medical Standards (For BRO Posts Only)

Candidates opting for vacancies in the Border Roads Organization (BRO) must meet specific physical and medical standards. (Note: Only male candidates are eligible for BRO vacancies).

Selection Process – SSC JHT 2026

Stage 1: Paper-I (Computer Based Examination)
Objective type CBT. Consists of Part-I: General Hindi (100 Qs / 100 Marks) and Part-II: General English (100 Qs / 100 Marks). Duration is 2 Hours. Important: There is a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer.
Stage 2: Paper-II (Descriptive Paper)
Candidates shortlisted from Paper-I will appear for Paper-II: Translation & Essay (200 Marks, 2 Hours). It contains one passage for translation from Hindi to English, one passage from English to Hindi, and an Essay each in Hindi and English.
Stage 3: Document Verification (DV)
Final selection and allocation of Ministries/Departments will be made based on the performance in Paper-I & Paper-II combined and the Post Preferences exercised online. DV will be conducted directly by the allotted User Departments.

How to Apply Online at ssc.gov.in

  1. Visit the new official SSC portal: ssc.gov.in.
  2. If applying for the first time on the new website, click on "Login or Register" to complete your One-Time Registration (OTR). (Old ssc.nic.in OTRs are not valid).
  3. Fill your Basic Details and complete Aadhaar Authentication if opted. Log in using your Registration Number and Password.
  4. Navigate to the "Apply" section under "Combined Hindi Translators Examination, 2026".
  5. Carefully fill the required details, choose 3 Examination Centres in order of preference, and fill in your Educational Qualification details.
  6. Live Photo Capture: You must capture your photograph LIVE using a webcam or the SSC mobile app. Do not wear a cap, mask, or spectacles. Ensure good lighting. Upload your scanned signature (10 to 20 KB).
  7. Preview the application carefully. Click "I Agree" on the declaration and submit.
  8. Proceed to the payment gateway to pay the fee of ₹100 online (Exempted for Women/SC/ST/PwBD/ESM).
  9. Download and print the final application form for future reference.

Ensure you adhere strictly to the following guidelines:

  • Live Photo Capture: You MUST capture your photograph live through the application module. Do not wear spectacles, glasses, masks, or caps. Ensure a plain background and eye-level alignment. Capturing a photo of a pre-existing printed photo is strictly prohibited and will lead to immediate rejection.
  • New OTR Required: Candidates must generate a new One-Time Registration (OTR) on the updated SSC portal (ssc.gov.in). OTRs from the old portal (ssc.nic.in) are completely invalid.
  • Correction Window: If you make any error, utilize the "Window for Application Form Correction" from 19 May to 20 May 2026. A fee of ₹200 applies for the first correction and ₹500 for the second.
  • Post Preferences: Post Preferences will be taken online before the declaration of the final result. Candidates who fail to submit their options during the stipulated time will NOT be considered for final allocation.
