Selection Process:
The selection process will include a written competitive examination followed by eligibility verification.
Written Examination:
(i) After collecting applications, they will be scrutinized. Those found correct will proceed to the written examination which will consist of two papers.
(ii) First Paper: General Hindi, 100 objective questions for 100 marks. A minimum of 30 marks is mandatory to qualify, otherwise, candidates will be disqualified. The duration for this paper is 1 hour, and marks won't be added to the total score.
(iii) Second Paper: General Knowledge and Logical Reasoning, 100 objective questions for 200 marks with a duration of 2 hours. 0.2 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer.
Note:
- Under Section 2(r) of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, a scribe can be arranged for visually impaired candidates.
- Visually impaired candidates can have additional time of 20 minutes per hour, with a maximum of 60 minutes extra.
Eligibility Verification:
Successful candidates from the written examination will undergo verification of Stenography, Hindi, and English typing. Tests will include:
- Hindi Stenography: Dictation at 80 words per minute for 5 minutes, with 20 minutes for transcription. Two minutes will be given for proofreading.
- Typing Test: Candidates must type 300 words in Hindi and English at a minimum speed of 30 words per minute each in 10 minutes.
- Computer Knowledge Test: Practical knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Internet will be tested.
Note: Fully blind or one/two-handed disabled candidates will be exempt from computer skill testing requirements.
Final Merit List and Recommendations for Appointment:
Based on marks in the written examination, a final merit list will be prepared category-wise for appointment. In case of a tie, age or educational qualifications will determine merit order.

Eligibility for Application:
4.1. Must be an Indian citizen. Both males and females can apply.
4.2. Educational Qualification: As of 01-08-2024, candidates must have passed at least the Intermediate (10+2) examination or equivalent. Additionally, candidates must possess a certificate in Computer Typing from a recognized institution by the government as of 01-08-2024.
4.3. Age Calculation: Age will be calculated as of 01-08-2024.
4.4. Age Limit as per Certificate of Date of Birth as on 01-08-2024:
- Unreserved (General) Category - Minimum 18 years, Maximum 25 years.
- Backward Class and Extremely Backward Class Males - Minimum 18 years, Maximum 27 years.
- Backward Class and Extremely Backward Class Females - Minimum 18 years, Maximum 28 years.
- Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe - Minimum 18 years, Maximum 30 years.
- Government servants of Bihar for promotion to higher grade - Additional 5 years relaxation if served for at least three years.
- Ex-Servicemen for Non-Gazetted posts - Additional 3 years relaxation plus equivalent service tenure, provided actual age does not exceed 57 years on the cut-off date.
- All categories for disability - Additional 10 years relaxation.
General Instructions
- Candidates will have to invariably produce and submit the requisite documents such as valid call letter, a photocopy of photo-identity proof bearing the same name as it appears on the online submitted application form etc. at the time of examination and Interview/ Document Verification as the case may be.
- **Online Application Form Filling Instructions:**
- (i) Detailed instructions for filling the online application form are available on the website. Candidates are advised to study all instructions thoroughly before filling the application form and ensure all information entered is correct. If any information is found to be incorrect or false, the application will be rejected, and legal action may be taken.
- (ii) To fill out the online application, candidates should go to the Bihar Police Tab on the website of Bihar Police Subordinate Services Commission at https://bpssc.bihar.gov.in and click on the link related to Advt.No. 01/2024. After clicking on the application link on this page, the process of filling the application form can begin.
- (iii) Before registration and payment, keep a valid and active mobile number and email ID, preferably registered in your name, which you can use for registration. Both mobile number and email ID are mandatory for registration. If you do not have your own email ID, create one as important information related to the online application process and selection will be communicated via your email ID and mobile phone during the recruitment process.
- (iv) The Commission will communicate with the candidate only on the mobile number/email ID provided during registration until the final stage of the selection process. The Commission will not be responsible for any incorrect, inactive, or falsely provided mobile number or email ID.
- (v) Candidates must make an online payment for the application fee and processing fee. Be cautious while making payments and avoid multiple payments for a single application. Under no circumstances will the application fee be refunded after successful payment. If payment fails due to technical or internet issues or slow bank response, the fee will be refunded by the Payment Gateway within 7 working days.
- (vi) Only one application form can be filled from one mobile number. The mobile phone should be with the candidate while filling the form since the registration ID and password will be sent via SMS to the same mobile number. The same registration ID and password will also be sent to your registered email ID.
- (vii) Before filling the application form, candidates should ensure they meet all the eligibility criteria as per the advertisement.
- (viii) Only one online application form can be submitted by a candidate. If a candidate submits more than one application, all such applications will be rejected. Candidates providing false names or addresses will be considered disqualified, and strict legal action will be taken against them.
- (ix) Candidates must correctly mention their date of birth based on the original certificate of the 10th/equivalent examination. All information such as name, father's/husband's name, address, etc., should be filled accurately. Any discrepancy found during verification will lead to the cancellation of the candidacy.
- (x) If candidates declare incorrect category information in the application form, their candidacy will be canceled. Hence, candidates should be absolutely sure about which category or class they belong to.
- (xi) Reserved category candidates are advised to study the relevant orders/instructions issued by the General Administration Department, Government of Bihar on state.bihar.gov.in from time to time for detailed information regarding their category/class/caste/community.
- (xii) **Online Application Form:**
- (a) The online application form is to be filled in two parts:
- In the first part, the candidate's initial registration is done, where details like name, nationality, mobile number, email ID, Bihar state residency (Domicile), category, caste, and date of birth are provided. After this, the payment process must be completed. Upon successful registration, the candidate will immediately receive a registration ID and password via SMS/email on their mobile number and email ID. Candidates can edit their details before making the payment. After payment, if you've registered with incorrect information, you cannot edit it but can cancel the registration. However, the application fee already paid will not be refunded, and a new fee must be paid for fresh registration.
- (b) After successful registration, log in with the provided registration ID and password to fill out the second part of the online application form with necessary information such as father's/husband's name, mother's name, address, and educational qualifications, agreeing to the declaration. After this, candidates must upload (i) a recent colored photograph taken within the last two months with a clear background, sized between 15 to 25 KB in .jpg/.jpeg/.gif format, and (ii) signatures in English and Hindi (black and blue ink) separately, each 15 to 25 KB in .jpg/.jpeg/.gif format on a clear background. Failure to follow these instructions regarding photographs and signatures will lead to the rejection/cancellation of the online application. After uploading photos and signatures, candidates can edit details before final submission. Once confirmed and submitted, no further changes to the application information are allowed. After final submission, candidates will receive a confirmation message (SMS/email) on their registered mobile number/email ID, marking the completion of the application process. The Commission will not allow any changes to the submitted application form's details. Candidates should then print an acknowledgment of their filled application form on A4 size paper for future correspondence or when required.
- (c) **Procedure to Cancel and Reapply for Incorrect/Defective Applications:** If the candidate feels that their application has been submitted with incorrect/defective details and needs correction, they can cancel the application using the cancellation option. However, the fee paid earlier will not be refunded, and a new fee must be paid for a new application.
